So much world, so little time. So much adulting, so little playing. It sounds cliché to say there are big changes coming. On a global level, in how we see this world and how we live in it, it seems as though it’s changing more quickly than can be digested. I am certain our personal lives are taking a bit of a shaking up, too. All for the better. There is no turning back. It is a fact, success is predicated on the pursuit; the damned determination. This doggedness sees an objective through despite external circumstances. Staying the course in a linear fashion has never been my strongest suit. Where some see my behavior as a fluttering about, I recognize … Read More

Truth: There will always be another path. We are inundated with choices. There will always be someone better looking to date, a ‘better for me’ meal to eat, a cooler place to live or travel. another t.v. show to watch, another book to read, another face product to buy, a nicer car to drive, a guilt regarding how you are spending your time (not calling a friend, not seeing a family member) This existence is inevitable. You have to let this coulda-woulda-shoulda go. Of all things, it is most destructive to your entire life. Mainly, it keeps you from living in the present moment, enjoying the present moment, feeling confident about the decision you made to reach this.present.moment. Yes, the … Read More

Madame Bovary is representative of a possible Highland Park woman in Dallas. If you don’t know the classic story by Gustave Flaubert: essentially a young lady cheats on her boring doctor husband. She jumps into another affair, it goes nowhere and she satisfies desires through material purchases and eventual debt. The first time I read it, I was at the tail-end of a relationship with a very well-read man. He was a bit questioning and suspicious of this book choice. He was intuitive of our demise. I will never forget the moment he walked past me, sitting on his worn, tan leather couch reading this book. He asked me what I was reading, I said, ‘oh this…classic I’ve never read … Read More

…let it shine, let it shine. Made it to the end of the week. I had insomnia every.single.night. this past week! I do not recommend it; it kinda makes you hate things, and people, and light. I woke this morning and promised myself if I made it through my entire to-do list, I would treat myself to a glass of champagne. I write this post from the other side of halfway through the second. Throw a girl a bone. I am always honest. There are a lot of things i dislike in my mind, but on the other side of having accomplished them, I’m excited. I try to remind myself of this when I start over-thinking. Like writing this blogpost, … Read More
