I’ve never been a fan of scary movies or scary reads. It causes me such anxiety and that’s an emotion no one needs more of.
The last frightening movie I recall seeing was at one of my single digit birthday slumber parties. We watched Pet Cemetery written by the iconoclastic Stephen King. I had to keep covering my eyes. I couldn’t go into the restroom without three girlfriends crammed with me in the tiny downstairs powder room of my grandmother’s.

I still can’t even stream the most basic of thrillers.

Dear Readers, you know I’m a podcasts addict, so I’ve pushed against my weeny disposition to pick out a handful of Halloween worthy listens.

An exceptional audio drama is the 10 episode The White Vault A handful of explorers with various pedigrees park themselves in a blizzardy wilderness for research…

Follow the collected records of a repair team sent to Outpost Fristed in the vast white wastes of Svalbard and unravel what lies waiting in the ice below.

I can’t get enough from the superb production outfit Parcast Halloween appropriate series under their team: Haunted Places; Hostage; Serial Killers; Unexplained Mysteries. These guys research down to the minutiae.

I’m a huge fan of Andrew Klavan over at The Daily Wire. His podcast is one of my consistent listens. “ is an American writer and political commentator. Two of Klavan’s novels have been adapted into motion pictures: True Crime (1999) and Don’t Say a Word (2001). He was nominated for the Edgar Award five times and won twice.” -Wiki

The second season of his dark suspense fantasy, Another Kingdom just launched. This second season is even better than the first!

Whatever phone you have, within your podcast app, there are a plethora of Halloween listening options. Kicked back, eyes closed, listening to stories… The aforementioned are the only ones I’ve vetted. 🙂

It’s been raining again all day in Dallas; and will all night. It has only taken momentary breaks in the last two months, minute reminders sunshine and warmth do exist. I had my Lasik consult earlier so my eyes are super dilated and my pupils are huge and black…like a planet.
